The Bible Is Like Lebron James?
Lebron James had greatness written all over him, even in his youth.
He entered the league with lots of fanfare.
This gave him the nickname “The Chosen One.”
He could do no wrong in his first few years of the league.
After 20 or so seasons in the league, James has been praised for his play on the court.
He has equally been criticized for “not being Michael Jordan.”
There are equally as many people that hate Lebron as those that love him.
This sounds like the Bible.
The Bible has been criticized and praised, possibly more than any other book in history.
The Bible is praised for being the Word of God.
And it is equally as criticized for being full of “fairy tales.”

The Bible is one of the highest selling books in all of history.
Love it or hate it, it is an intriguing book.
And it can be intimidating for those who are new to it.
Allow me to share a few of my personal tips for studying the Bible.
3 Tips for Studying the Bible
I definitely don’t claim to know it all as far as studying the Bible.
But I will share with you a few tips that I know.
Here are 3 tips I hope can help you.
PICK A TRANSLATION THAT IS EASY TO READ
It is important to get started with a version that is easy to read.
Don’t get confused with the variety of translations out there.
Remember that there is no perfect translation.
The Bible originally came from 3 languages: Greek, Aramaic, and Hebrew.
This makes translating the Bible tedious to translate for Bible scholars.
Our various translations come about so as many people as possible can have access to God’s Word.
Translations I recommend are the New King James Version (NJKV) and the New American Standard Bible (NASB).
Get access to a Bible the feels right to you and that is easy for you to read.
START WITH THE BOOK OF JOHN OR PROVERBS
The Gospel of John is a good place to start.
The Gospel of John tells the story of Jesus, as Him being the son of God.
This book is important to understand Jesus’ reason for coming to earth.
Another good book to start with is the Book of Proverbs.
Proverbs contains practical ways for us to live.
This book is one of the most practical books in all of the Bible, in my opinion.
APPROACH THE BIBLE WITH SINCERITY
I would suggest approaching the Bible with an open heart and mind.
It is important to pray to ask God to open your heart and mind to receive His Word.
Make sure your motives are right, if you are going to read the Bible.
Use your Bible study time to get closer to God and deepen your knowledge of God’s Word.

Conclusion
Personal Bible study is the best way accelerate spiritual growth, in my opinion.
There is NO substitute for spending time in God’s Word.
I would suggest a personal Bible study practice for everyone.
And I hope these tips help you out.
I am convinced that God will meet you when you study His Word.
Thank you for reading this post.
