3 Reasons Why I Love Star Wars!

In A Galaxy Far, Far Away

A tie fighter flying through space….

The famous labored breathing of Darth Vader…

Sounds of a lightsaber fight…

It NEVER gets old for me.

I grew up with a deep love for Star Wars and it has never waned.

While I haven’t kept up with many of the new franchise offerings, my love is still strong for Star Wars.

I wanted to celebrate Star Wars Day (May 4th) by sharing with you the reasons I love Star Wars.

3 Reasons Why I Love Star Wars

I would love to hear your reasons in the comments as I share mine below.

The Sense Of Wonder

There is so much to marvel at when it comes to this franchise.

Space, first of all, is a mystery for man.

The universe is vast, and it would be hard, even for all of our technological advances, to explore it all.

Star Wars does a great job in giving us a playful glimpse into space.

Through the brilliance of George Lucas and others, we get to experience what life in space is like.

A Deep Lore and Story

One of the reasons why the franchise has staying power is because of the lore.

The Star Wars lore is deep enough to create a legacy that extends far beyond George Lucas himself.

Even though the lore is deep, the premise is ultimately simple.

Star Wars is a battle of good versus evil.

This story line has been a staple of history and Star Wars does well to capitalize on it.

All of writers, directors, cast, and crew should be applauded for keeping fans engaged and hooked in the series.

Amazing, Memorable Characters

There are too many memorable characters to name in this franchise.

The franchise gave us one of the greatest villains/characters in the history of entertainment, namely Darth Vader.

Star Wars has always done well to present us with characters like Luke Skywalker that we not only can enjoy watching but connect with personally.

Here are a few standout characters for me that I want to mention:

  • Yoda (Jedi Master with an amazing depth of wisdom)
  • Jabba the Hut (basically a crime boss that ruled with fear, he looked like a big snail LOL)
  • Princess Leia (the beautiful princess whose wit and bravery captivated our attention, RIP Carrie Fisher)
  • Han Solo (the adventurous hustler who became a rebellion leader)
  • Rey (a young woman that realizes her destiny in later entries of the franchise)
  • Finn (a former Stormtrooper that ultimately helps lead the rebellion to victory in later franchise entries)
  • Kylo Ren aka Ben Solo (son of Han and Leia that eventually fell victim to the dark side)
  • R2 -D2 and C3PO – (faithful droids who supported the rebellion endlessly)
  • Anakin Skywalker aka Darth Vader (Anakin was a young Jedi prodigy that fell victim to the dark side, becoming the primary franchise antagonist.)
  • The Emperor, formerly Senator Palpatine (a Sith Lord disguised as a politician, who ultimately became Darth Vader’s master)
  • Chewbacca aka Chewie (a fierce warrior that served as Han’s main companion in the franchise)

Those are just a FEW of the character in the franchise that made an impression on me.

I could go on even more, talking about characters like Mace Windu, Lando, Darth Maul, Obi Wan Kenobi, and even Star Killer (from the Star Wars video games.)

If a well written story doesn’t have the right characters, it will not shine.

Star Wars has a great depth of characters that bring out the best of the script and direction.

Conclusion (It’s A Trap!)

There is a reason why I shared the famous Admiral Ackbar line.

I realize there is a lot of contention concerning the Star Wars franchise now.

Some people despise the prequels and hate the current direction of the franchise.

From what I notice online, some Star Wars fans tend to complain a lot.

We all know that negativity towards anything can be louder, especially in the digital space.

If you are one of those that do not like the franchise direction or movies like the prequels, I am not here to change your mind.

But I would ask you to consider what made you love the franchise in the first place.

While I haven’t kept up with too much of the new stuff, I’m happy the franchise is still going strong.

Every time I see something Star Wars related, I tend to get that warm fuzzy feeling.

As we celebrate Star Wars Day, I hope you get that same feeling too.

Thank you for reading this and God bless.
