The Need for Men: A Father’s Day Post!

Happy Father’s Day

First of all, allow me to say, Happy Father’s Day.

Happy Father’s Day to all the men, mentors, leaders, coaches, and everyone in their respective places.

Happy Father’s Day to my late father James Jackson and grandfather John D. Roberts.

Both of these men were critical in instilling values, work ethic, respect, and more importantly, a love for God.

I think our society has done a poor job of appreciating men and the stability they can bring to our communities.

Masculinity has been seen as a toxic thing.

Men are rarely appreciated for doing the right thing and it seems that society only focuses on what is wrong.

But I think there is still a need for strong male role models in our communities.

Allow me to quickly share the need for men below.

The Need for Men

We should be grateful for the contributions of women for their role in our communities.

But I think men still have important value in this world.

Let me share a few thoughts with you, from my own lived story.

My father and grandfather taught me how to be a man.

This is not to discredit women, especially single mothers.

But there are some moments where a boy, especially, needs to see the example of a good man in his life.

It was important to see that daily example of what it means to take responsibility in the household.

Men need to communicate with other men.

There is a certain way that men talk to each other.

I think that young boys in particular need to be around other men to learn such a skill.

There was a forceful, commanding manner in which my father and grandfather spoke that garnered respect.

There is a way that men have to talk in order earn respect in the household and in society.

Our society needs leadership.

Again, nothing against women.

We need the contribution of everyone to make our society healthy.

For better or worse, all men are born leaders in my opinion.

We need good, godly men to bring healing and restoration to our communities.

Conclusion

I have to say that my grandfather and father were not perfect men.

But these were the men God put in my life.

I couldn’t see my life the same way without them.

There are other men that were formative in my constant development and growth into my manhood.

As far as our society, we still need firm men that can be respected and reinforced in their roles.

So, with that said, Happy Father’s Day to all the men out.

Keep going and being that role model for society.

God bless.
