Be A Blessing To Others
Imagine you wanting to drop everything and skip town.
You keep this discreet.
However, there is something coming you cannot predict.
There is upheaval happening near your area and it doesn’t even involve you.
However, you can’t let tragedy happen.
This leads to you ultimately becoming a hero, saving the day, giving hope to someone that was in need.

This was the situation that Nikolai Orelov was faced with in Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia.
Orelov was an assassin who wanted to move to America with his family.
Yet, he caught wind of the Tsar and the royal family being eliminated, including children.
Orelov defended and protected the last member of that royal family.
This ultimately cost Nikolai his relationship with the Brotherhood of Assassins.
He was seen as a traitor, putting his life in serious jeopardy.
Yet, he remained faithful to Anastasia, helping her to flee to safety in America.
So, What’s The Point?
The point is that Nikolai did something for someone.
Without expecting anything in return.
How many of us help people in order to help ourselves?
I know I’m guilty.
Sometimes, life is bigger than just about you.
We live in a selfish society.
But imagine a world where people helped each other for the sake of doing good works.
That is the kind of world Jesus talks about.
In Matthew 4: 35 – 40, Jesus uses an illustration to paint the picture of doing good for others.
The King (or God in this case) rewards those who:
- Feed the hungry
- Gives drink to the thirsty
- Clothed those in need
- Brought in strangers
- Looked after the sick
- Visited those in prison
Jesus states in this illustration that treating others well is like treating God well.
This teaches us that we should do well for the sake of it, not to get a reward.
Serving others with the right heart and motives is it’s own reward.
God will not let out acts of kindness and love go unrewarded.
But our hearts have to be in the right place, doing good works to our neighbors and loving them well.
This was a weird concept to some of the religious leaders of Jesus’ day.
These folks often put on a show, just for the applause and praise of others.
We should never do good things for others, just to be seen.
All of our works are because we love God and want to help others do well.

Conclusion
I know that I can be selfish at times.
I spend a lot of time wanting God to bless me.
But it may be that my greatest blessing is in helping others, loving people, and letting my light shine for God’s glory.
Whether you are a Christian or not, you should do good things to help lift people up.
You never know how far your act of kindness can go into changing someone’s life.
So, we need to make it our business to be a blessing to others, without any expectation or reward.
God bless you and thank you for reading this.
