Your Story Is Redeemable (Like Raiden’s)

Some Crazy Story!

Maybe you were set up to fail from the beginning.

It is possible that everything you learned at a young age was wrong.

Perhaps there were people in your life that manipulated you for the wrong reasons.

You may have been told lies that kept you gullible.

At the end, you may find out that the life you live is a gigantic lie.

Yes…

All of this would be a tough way to live.

But that is exactly what happened to Raiden.

Raiden turned out the be a character in the Metal Gear franchise that most fans didn’t expect.

Most gamers were fine walking the Solid Snake path, like in other entries in the series.

Raiden first appears in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. (one of my all-time favorite games)

He comes off as immature and whiny.

But Raiden had some serious growing up to do, as he was to face his godfather Solidus in battle.

As the game progresses, you can see Raiden gaining a bit more confidence with the help of Snake.

Though the end of MGS2 was grim in terms of the series, you can see that Raiden’s character develops through the course of the game.

So, you may be asking…What does this have to do with me?

I’m getting to that, I promise…

The Redemption Story Begins

The next time we see Raiden is in MGS 4: Guns of the Patriots.

He is not that same guy we met in MGS 2.

Raiden is more confident, wields his blade with authority, and takes risks to help out the team.

An even better redemption story happens for Raiden (in my opinion) in Metal Gear Rising.

This is a great game that sees Raiden fight for what he believes in, even going against the grain at times.

Raiden is a husband and a father that seems to fight with purpose, even though he is still trying to figure some things out.

And he looks like a real warrior when compared to MGS 2.

Now, let me make this about you.

You might have been lied to.

Someone may have cheated you in a deal.

You may have been manipulated by others.

Someone may have done you wrong.

There are some that may not believe in you.

So much may have gone wrong in your life.

But YOU too can have a redemption story.

In my opinion, this starts with faith in God AND faith in yourself.

If you don’t believe in yourself, you shouldn’t expect anyone else to believe in you.

A new story can be written for you.

And the great news is YOU HAVE THE PEN!

Do something new for yourself.

Stop believing the lies other people tell you.

Take a risk that makes you feel alive.

Use those past hurts as pain to fuel your purpose.

Make good use of your past story by helping others get through theirs.

You don’t have to allow your past story to become your current situation.

You are not too far beyond God’s love and grace.

Conclusion

I hope this blog post encourages you to live out your redemption story.

One practical way to start doing this is gratitude.

Learn to be grateful for the good and the bad.

The bad shows ways that you can grow and the good can help sustain you.

Another way that works for me is journaling.

Putting down my thoughts on paper really helps me to navigate through the emotions of life.
