Understanding Christianity: Beyond Misconceptions

Misunderstood?

Unfortunately, we stereotype people more often than not.

It is safe to say that we often judge others without knowing about their lives.

What if I told you there is someone you and I have misunderstood for thousands of years?

You might have assumed things about Christianity.

It is easy to do.

Even I assume things about the Christian faith that I shouldn’t.

We tend assume the worst of the Christian faith.

Now, I will not make that as an excuse for people who have abused, misused, and hurt others in the name of Christianity.

However, I will say this.

Don’t allow the bad behavior of others ruin your experience of the Christian faith.

Just because you have a bad experience at one restaurant does not mean you should never go to a restaurant ever again.

I digress.

What I’m trying to say is that Jesus is welcoming you into His arms, not casting you aside.

You are not too far gone from Jesus’ love.

You are not too messed up that Jesus can’t love you.

There is nothing that you have done that you can’t be forgiven from.

God is on your side, not your enemy.

And He wants to provide you with an alternative on how to live.

The Alternative

Have you been on social media lately?

Have you watched the news?

Did you see any crazy headlines lately?

This world wants to stay stuck.

The world system is designed to…

  • Keep us in fear.
  • Destroy our mental health.
  • Make us anxious about everything.
  • Have us feel like we are missing out on something.
  • Make us slaves to money and dependent on others.

Our world seems to worship celebrities while people like teachers are underpaid and undervalued.

While there are some good people and places in our world, most of it is filled with a lot of darkness, evil, and hatred.

Most of us struggle to find peace in this broken world.

However, Jesus offers us an opportunity for peace.

Let’s see John 16: 33 of the Bible.

These things I have spoken to you so that in Me you may have peace. In the world, you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.

That is one of the verses in the Bible where Jesus offers you peace in a turbulent world.

The alternative of Christianity may be something you should consider.

If you confess that you are a sinner and accept Jesus into your life as your personal savior, that is where the process starts.

THAT IS THE START..

Confess and believe.

If you did that, thank the Lord.

But if you didn’t, I ask that you consider giving Jesus a chance.

You can start by reading the Bible; consider starting with the Gospel of John.

Conclusion

While I love my cartoons, video games, sketchbooks, comics, and books, the most important thing in my life is my relationship with Jesus Christ.

And through that, I am able to have more peace living as a Christian than not.

That is not to say I don’t have struggles, insecurities, flaws, failures, mistakes, setbacks and rough patches.

Anyone that gives you the idea that the Christian faith is a cakewalk is lying to you.

But it DOES mean that I have the stability of Jesus Christ I can lean on in times of uncertainty and trouble.

And I want to offer that to you as well.

I will leave you with a Bible verse, which is 1 John 1:9.

Read that in your spare time and open up your heart to learning more about the person of Christ.
