We Need a Great Villain!

We love superheroes.

From Superman to Underdog, we love people with amazing powers saving the day.

It’s easy to root for people that use their power for the good.

However, there is one trait binds all superheroes together.

It is not amazing power, strength, or physique.

Neither is it a crazy backstory.

All great superheroes NEED a great villain.

Why We Need a Great Villain

You can watch the video or continue to read the blog post below.

Think about this for a moment.

Batman needs the Joker to keep his detective skills sharp.

Superman needs Lex Luthor to stay on top of his game.

All of the great superheroes have a great villain.

A great villain helps the superhero:

  • Hone his/her skills
  • Stay true to the values
  • Understand their “why”
  • Stay vigilant
  • Avoid complacency

You and I may not be superheroes.

But we also need a great villain.

We need a villain to make sure we are not getting complacent.

We are not competing against the likes of the Joker or Lex Luthor.

But we are competing against a villain that holds us back.

Here are some enemies we may fight against:

  • Satan or the devil
  • The past
  • Sins, faults, and flaws
  • Insecurities
  • Failure
  • Disappointment
  • A relationship, friendship, or association gone bad
  • And more…

We have to stay on guard, to make sure we are reaching our potential.

It is important to have a great villain to make sure we are living by faith.

Without a great villain, it is easy to become complacent.

A great villain ensures that we are proactive, not reactive.

I think you get the point.

A great villain in our lives is key to do great things!

Conclusion

A great superhero needs a great villain.

The great villain keeps the superhero sharp, on guard, and proactive.

We too need a great villain.

That villain may be the past, hurt, pain, insecurity, or sin.

However, that adversity can build faith and character.

So, let us not be too quick to avoid challenge.

Challenges could make our lives “super.”

I hope this encourages you.

Be blessed and have a wonderful day!

Know that God loves you!
