Most importantly, he is a video game icon.
Many people were introduced to Mario through the original Nintendo Entertainment System.
This includes me.
I have fond memories of playing the original NES game.
And I was in love with gaming ever since.
This makes me think of the legacy of Super Mario.
Here are my thoughts on what makes Super Mario special.

AMAZING GAMES!!!!!!!
It’s safe to say that some of the most memorable games in gaming history have come from Super Mario himself.
In particular, Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario World come to mind.
Let’s throw in Super Mario Kart for good measure.
KING OF THE ACTION PLATFORMER GAME!
My favorite kind of video game genre is the action platformer.
There have been many games that have duplicated the formula that started with the Super Mario Bros NES game.
IT’S ABOUT FUN!!!!!!!!
Bright colors!
Awesome powerups!
Exciting game design!
Memorable enemies and fun gameplay are normally the hallmarks of most games featuring Mario.

Conclusion
I’m so glad that Mario is still going strong.
He is possibly the most recognizable video game icon out there.
And it was Super Mario Bros that helped revive the gaming industry after the early 80’s video game crash.
Gamers from all over should be grateful to Mario for his contribution to the video gaming and entertainment industry.
