Masters of the Universe Movie Review

(This review will contain a few spoilers)

I HAVE THE POWER

He-Man is one of my favorite cartoon series of all-time!

I was fascinated by the Masters of the Universe cartoon as a kid.

The cartoon featured one of the most famous hero and villain dynamics in all of fandom.

He-Man and Skeletor couldn’t be more opposite of each other.

Skeletor was known for his insults, wicked schemes and sarcasm, voiced by the incredible Alan Oppenheimer.

While He-Man used his power for the good of those who couldn’t defend themselves.

So, I had mixed feelings about another live action movie.

The Masters of the Universe movie from 1987 strayed away too far from the source material, in my opinion.

I was happy to see that this 2026 movie did not do that.

The Masters of the Universe movie shares the story of Adam, the prince of Eternia as he goes on a journey to become He-Man.

The movie begins with Adam as a small child.

When an attack comes to the palace, Adam is sent to the Earth, where he has to track down the lost sword of power.

Adam soon returns to Eternia, only to find that Skeletor has taken over.

Then the battle ensues for Eternia and the sword of power.

Here are 3 of the things I like most about the movie:

ACTION – The action scenes were awesome. And there was a lot of action to go around. Most of the stars of the movie had amazing action highlights.
FELT LIKE THE CARTOON – The scenery, the characters, the back story all felt true to the cartoon series.
SKELETOR – As much of a fan of He-Man I am, I wanted to see how Skeletor would be in this movie. I was happy to see the Skeletor insulted and was true to his character in the cartoon series.

I have one real complaint about the movie.

ADAM’S TIME ON EARTH

I know that this was an important part needed to build upon the story.

However, it did seem like a little bit of filler to me.

With that said, I HIGHLY recommend watching the movie.

I would give it a 9 out of 10 as far as my personal rating.

This movie is a treat, especially for fans of the original cartoon series like me.

Masters of the Universe is a great movie that does the original cartoon series justice.

If you are a fan of the cartoon series, you will surely enjoy this movie.

This proves that movie studios are capable of remaking older IP’s in a way that pleases fans.

Again, I recommend watching this movie.
